Iowa Court Ruling Paves Way for Gay Marriage

The Iowa Supreme Court ruled that the state's same-sex-marriage ban violates the constitutional rights of gay and lesbian couples, making it the third state where gay marriage is legal.
In a unanimous ruling issued Friday, the court upheld a 2007 Polk County District Court judge's ruling that the law was unconstitutional. The case stems from a 2005 lawsuit filed by Lambda Legal, a New York-based gay-rights organization. The group filed a lawsuit on behalf of six gay and lesbian Iowa couples who were denied marriage licenses.

Connecticut and Massachusetts are the two states that allow same-sex couples to marry. California briefly recognized gay marriage until voters banned it in a referendum last year.

California is suppose to be the one state in which every state follows. California is a leader in supplying 32% of the world's food, a great source for energy & Ca is trying to become less dependent on foreign countries when it comes to electricity & resources. It is also seeking other alternative resources for energy to build within the state. They also are one of the first states to become open minded. Other states follow in suit, but California should have been the first to allow gay marriage; since San Fransisco is believed to be the "Gay Capitol of the World." Instead, marriage does not exist between two couples of the same sex because of a majority vote. And many voted for the proposition because they said on commercials and articles that if California allowed gay marriage, they would teach it in schools.

Maybe gay couples in California have to sue the state to finally get what they want, like Iowans.

And if homosexuality was taught in schools, that would be a great thing. Then there would be less suicide, murder & harassment. I write this because there might be mutual understanding if it's taught by teachers, instead of arrogance and intolerance filling the land.
